De herontwikkeling van dit kloostercomplex in Berkel Enschot wordt steeds concreter. De ge-meente Tilburg heeft onlangs een positief advies gegeven voor het ingediende principeverzoek tot herbestemming van dit monumentale ensemble. Het verzoek omvat het creëren van een aantal wooneenheden in het voormalige klooster, Bed & Breakfast appartementen in het Poortgebouw, dag horeca in het voormalige café en eco-lodges in de tuinen.

De Rendierhoeve is een geheel ommuurd monumentaal ensemble, een hortus conclusis met een rijke geschiedenis. Deze begon in de 19de eeuw met de bouw van een houten wielerbaan en café genaamd Halfweg, een L-vormig gebouw met zadeldak en trapgevels. Aan het begin van de 20ste eeuw werd hier een klooster in Neogotische stijl aan toegevoegd om de uit Frankrijk gevluchte Trappistinnen op te vangen. Uit die tijd stamt ook het poortgebouw, gelegen direct langs de Eindhovenseweg. Ook werd het ruim 3 ha. grote terrein ommuurd en voorzien van een droge gracht. Het café deed destijds dienst als kapel. De nonnen zijn na ca. 10 jaar teruggekeerd naar Ubexy in Frankrijk. Daarna werden in het complex WOI-vluchtelingen ondergebracht. De huidige naam is waarschijnlijk afkomstig van een van de voormalig particuliere eigenaren, de directeur van de Aabee fabrieken die een rendier in het logo had. Later kreeg de plaatselijke scouting hier hun onderkomen. De vader van de huidige eigenaresse werd in 1971 eigenaar van het complex.
In 2006 kreeg het klooster, de muur, het poortgebouw maar ook het gehele ensemble de status rijksmonument. Het geheel bevindt zich in een slechte staat van onderhoud en voor een rendabele restauratie en exploitatie is herbestemming en aanvullende bebouwing noodzakelijk.
De eerste fase richt zich op de renovatie en verduurzaming van het Poortgebouw. Aan de zijgevels worden serres toegevoegd.

The redevelopment of this monastery complex in Berkel Enschot is becoming increasingly actual. The municipality of Tilburg has recently given a positive advice for the submitted request in principle for the re-use of this monumental ensemble. The request includes the creation of a number of residential units in the former monastery, Bed & Breakfast apartments in the Poortgebouw, day catering in the former café and eco-lodges in the gardens of the monastery.

The Rendierhoeve is a completely walled monumental ensemble, a ‘hortus conclusis’ with a rich history. This started in the 19th century with the construction of a wooden cycling track and café called Halfweg, a L-shaped building with gable roof and stepped gables. At the beginning of the 20th century, a monastery in Neo-Gothic style was added to accommodate the Trappistines who had fled France. The gatehouse, located directly along the Eindhovenseweg, also dates from that time. The more than 3 ha. large site is completely walled. At that time, the cafe served as a chapel. The nuns returned to Ubexy in France after about 10 years. Then WWI refugees were housed in the complex. The current name probably comes from one of the former private owners, the director of the Aabee factories who had a reindeer in the logo. Later the local scouting got their home here. The current owner's father became the owner of the complex in 1971.
In 2006, the monastery, the wall, the gatehouse and the entire ensemble received the status of national monument. The whole is in a poor state of repair and for a profitable restoration and operation, redevelopment and additional buildings are necessary.
The first phase focuses on the renovation and sustainability of the gatehouse. Greenhouses will be added to the side walls.
