deliplein as the center of the village katendrecht
Magnificent views, increasing attainability (the bridge to the Wilhelminapier), lots of green areas, the beach, the cruise ship, beautiful cultural heritage and last but not least the cozy old, renovated, Deliplein in front of the site! The plein which should become ‘the village center’.
The new apartment buildings should support that coziness by morphology. But also by offering space for shops and facilities on the ground floor, like cafe and restaurant services. Not to attract people from other neighbourhoods but to offer facilities for the 6000 inhabitants their self.
Social life in the past decennia has changed. Certainties of family, religion and other social clubs have eroded and forces people to make their own choices on social relationships. Society is becoming more individualized with people entertaining more personal and ever transforming, relationships. Of all households in the Netherlands 32% live alone and this number is still increasing.

The level of desired comfort has also increased over time. Although houses have become bigger, individual space is getting scarce more and more.
As a consequence of our contemporary and busy life there is a real need for coming home in an own personalized home. But, especially when living alone, there are also times you want to meet and join others.
The challenge is to offer, those living alone, individual space in a modern comfortable setting. How to develop an affordable proposition that combines private basics with some luxurious facilities that also support social contact.
The concept offers comfortable dwellings for singles that include basic individual facilities. Some of them with private office space. In addition, the concept offers a full range of collective luxurious facilities such as fully equipped professional kitchens with dining room and library, perfectly oriented collective terraces, guestrooms, a launderette, an indoor pool, sauna and fitness, roof garden and green courtyard.
It offers a cost effective proposition; future property owners paying (for example) for 100%, getting for their selves 80% while offering 20% to the collective, getting the full benefits of sharing all mentioned luxurious facilities.
